Butter 2 individual casseroles or small ovenproof dishes.
Line cups with grassy strips of onion.
Nest prawns in onion "grass." Divide egg, reserving yolk for another dish.
Whip egg white to soft peak, fold in mayonnaise and pepper.
Drain clams and gently stir into egg mixture.
Spoon egg mixture over prawns, set dishes under broiler, and cook 3 to 5 minutes until puffy and well browned.
