Prawn Green Curry / Shrimp Green Curry Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 lb prawns/shrimp | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Turmeric powder | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Red chilli powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 1/2 tsp + 1/4 tsp ginger garlic paste | ||
| 1 tbsp lime/lemon juice | ||
| Spinach | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Grated coconut | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), frozen | |
| Tamarind paste | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Coriander | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Mint | 1 Tablespoon, chopped | |
| Ginger | 1 inch | |
| 1 tbsp chopped cashew nuts | ||
| 4-5 green chillies or to taste | ||
| Oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Cumin seeds | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Garlic | 1 Teaspoon, minced | |
| Onion | 1 Medium, finely chopped | |
| Cumin powder | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Coriander powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Garam masala powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Peel, devein and clean the shrimp. Marinate by adding salt, turmeric, red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste and lemon juice. Mix well and keep aside for 30 minutes.
Put spinach, coconut, chopped coriander, mint, ginger, cashew nuts and tamarind paste to a blender and blend to a smooth paste by adding about 1/4 cup of warm water. Keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and minced garlic. Saute for few seconds. Add chopped onions and saute until soft. Add 1/4 tsp ginger garlic paste and saute for few seconds.
Add marinated prawns and salt and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add ground paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and 1/4 cup of water. Mix well and bring it to a boil. Cover and simmer for 5-6 minutes.
Serve hot along with steamed rice or any Indian flatbreads.

very intriguing recipe..... there are so many ingredients in this?? wont the garam masala rob the unique flavors of the mixed ingredients...its usually very overpowering..

prawns are my all time favorites! coconut in the curry seems to add up the aroma of the dish...i always steam up the prawns and then prepare its dishes...it always end up being tender and tasty...:))

Prawn Green Curry recipe..now wonder you saved the recipe :-)..have you tried it yourself?...i am just wondering if you know how to make the prawns or shrimps come out less hard and more tender..mine always ends up being reallt hard:-(..especially if i am boiling it in a gravy or such...

Shrimp tends to harden if overcooked. Do not cook it for more than 5-10 minutes.
