Pound Cake Recipe

I made this Pound Cake last weekend when I had some guests-visit; believe me, it was dead simple and was a great hit too. Try this Pound Cake for once, I bet, you will love it!

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups sifted Swans Down Cake Flour

1 teaspoon Calumet Baking Powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup butter or margarine

1 1/4 cups sugar

1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla

1/4 teaspoon mace

4 eggs, unbeaten

1/4 cup milk

Directions

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
Cream butter until very soft and fluffy.
Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, creaming thoroughly after each addition. (Beat at least 10 minutes in mixer longer by hand.) Add vanilla and mace, blending well.
Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.
Add flour mixture alternately with the milk, beating after each addition until smooth.
Pour batter into a 9x5x3-inch pan or 9-inch tube pan which has been lined on the bottom with paper.
Bake in a slow oven (325°F.) 1 hour and 15 to 20 minutes, or until cake tests done.
Cool about 15 minutes in pan.
Then turn out, remove paper, and turn right side up to cool thoroughly.
