Pork Chow Mein Recipe
Ingredients
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon peanut or vegetable oil
2 cups sliced onions
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup each sliced celery, julienne-cut red or green bell pepper (thin strips) , sliced mushrooms, and bean sprouts
12 ounces julienne-cut cooked pork (thin strips)
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 packet instant chicken broth and seasoning mix
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons chopped scallion (green onion)
2 cups cooked long-grain rice (hot)
Directions
In 10-inch nonstick skillet heat oil; add onions and garlic and saute briefly.
Add celery and pepper strips and saute until tender-crisp, about 3 minutes; add mushrooms and bean sprouts and saute, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes.
Add pork, soy sauce, and broth mix and stir to combine.
Combine water and cornstarch, stirring to dissolve cornstarch; add to skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened.
Sprinkle with scallion and serve over rice.
