Pork Apple Dinner Recipe
Ingredients
| Lean pork - 1 1/2 pounds, cut in 1-inch cubes (3 1/2 cups) | ||
| Crisco | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Onion | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Ground sage | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 3/4 Teaspoon | |
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Flour | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Apples | 3 Cup (16 tbs), thinly sliced | |
| Sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
Directions
MAKING
1. In a 3-quart saucepan, heat the Crisco and add the pork cubes to the hot pan. Brown the meat in batches over medium heat till done.
2. Add the water, onions, sage, and salt and cover and simmer 20 minutes till the meat is tender.
3. Mix the milk and flour mixture and add to the pork as it cooks. The sauce becomes thick and bubbly. Turn half the hot pork mixture into the 2-quart casserole.
4. Place the apple slices over the meat, sprinkle with sugar and top with the rest of the pork mixture. Bake for 10 minutes in a hot oven and then reduce the heat to 350° and bake again for 25 minutes

5. Serve warm
