Popovers Recipe
Preparing this Popovers recipe is the second best way to please a crowd. Am sure you are aware of the first??? The Popovers is one of the most popular creations of the Canadian Cuisine. I will prepare this Popovers as Snack for a get-together I am soon going to host. I am eagerly waiting to know what you think about this Popovers. Send me a note!
Ingredients
1 tablespoon oil or melted shortening
1 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil or melted shortening
Directions
Preheat oven to 450 °F.
Brush muffin pans well with 1 tablespoon oil, and heat pans in oven while preparing batter.
Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
Beat eggs well; then stir in milk and vegetable oil.
Make well in flour, pour in egg mixture and beat until smooth.
Pour batter into hot pans, filling them 1/2 full.
Bake at 450°F. 20 minutes; reduce heat to 325 °F. and bake 10 minutes longer.
Serve at once.
Makes 6â€â€8 popovers.
Note: To prevent sogginess, remove baked popovers from pans as soon as they come from oven, and insert knife in side of each to let out steam.
They should be served at once.
