Directions

Grease six 6-ounce custard cups with 1/4 teaspoon of the shortening per cup.
Place custard cups in oven; preheat oven to 450° Meanwhile, in mixing bowl beat eggs.
Add milk and oil.
Add flour and salt; beat till mixture is smooth.
Fill the hot custard cups half full.
Bake at 450° for 25 minutes.
Reduce oven to 350° and bake till popovers are very firm, 15 to 20 minutes more.
A few minutes before removing from oven, prick each popover with a fork to let steam escape.
