Its a traditional maharashtrian dish.Known as kaandaa poha(kaanda=onion) (poha=beaten rice).There are several variations to this recipe!

Ingredients

 Beaten rice1 Cup (16 tbs) (Poha)
 Oil2 Teaspoon
 Mustard seeds1 Teaspoon
 Udad dal1 Teaspoon (Black Gram)
 Turmeric powder1 Pinch
 Green chili pepper3 , slit lengthwise or chopped
 Onion3⁄4 Medium, thinly sliced
 Potato1 Small, peeled and diced
 Salt To Taste
 Water1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Lemon juice1⁄2 Tablespoon
 Chopped coriander leaves2 Teaspoon

Directions

Soak poha in enough water to cover for 5-10 minutes.
Drain and squeeze out excess water, working in batches of handfuls.
Heat oil in a skillet and add the mustard seeds, Urad dal, turmeric, and slit green chili. saute for few min.
When the mustard seeds start to sputter, add the onion and potato and saute for 5-7 or 8 min minutes. (until potato is soft)
Add salt and sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of water, and cover.
After 5 minutes, uncover, add the poha and saute for another 5 minutes.
Remove from flame add the lime juice and garnish with chopped coriander.
