Ingredients
2 Cups Port or Dry Red Wine
2 Cups Sugar
6 to 8 Med. Pears, ripe and peeled
Few Drops Red Food Coloring
4 Thin Strips Lemon Peel
Directions
Put wine & sugar in saucepan.
Cover and cook on high until sugar is dissolved.
Peel pears, keeping whole and leaving stems on.
Peel into saucepan (turn to coat well).
Add food coloring and lemon peel.
Cover and cook on low heat for 4 to 6 hours, turning occasionally.
Serve with wine poured over pears.
