Ingredients

 
2 cups water 4 onion slices
 
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
 
1 bay leaf
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
4 (1 3/4 pounds) halibut steaks
 
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
 
1 tablespoon flour
 
2 teaspoons prepared drained horseradish

Directions

Put water, onion, parsley, bay leaf and salt in a large skillet.
Simmer 10 minutes.
Put in halibut steaks, and simmer 10—12 minutes or until fish flakes.
Remove steaks from skillet; save 1 1/2 cups liquid.
Keep fish hot.
In a small saucepan melt butter or margarine.
Add flour, and stir until smooth.
Gradually add 1 1/2 cups liquid saved from poaching, stirring constantly.
Still stirring, simmer 10 minutes.
Remove from heat; add horseradish, and mix well.
Serve sauce over halibut steaks.
