Ingredients

 
1/2 cup (125 mL) water
 
1/4 tsp (1 mL) vinegar or lemon juice
 
1 egg

Directions

Place in a small microwave-safe dish or teacup the water and vinegar or lemon juice.
Microwave 1 minute at HIGH.
Break the egg into a saucer.
Pierce the yolk and the white of the egg with the point of a knife, then gently pour the egg into the hot water.
Microwave at MEDIUM 30 to 40 seconds, depending on how well done you like it cooked.
Remove egg from the water with a slotted spoon.
Place egg on buttered toast or on an English muffin cut in half.
In the summer, try sprinkling the egg or the toast with chives.
To poach 2 eggs at a time, heat 2 cups (500 mL) water 5 minutes at HIGH.
Pierce the yolk and the white of the eggs with the point of a knife.
Microwave the 2 eggs together 1 minute at MEDIUM-HIGH.
Cover and let stand 1 minute.
Serve.
