Spicy Plum Chutney Recipe

The plum chutney is a cooked chutney with blue plums and apples, along with spices. Combined with plum pureee and cooked till thick, the plum chutney has added onions and brown sugar with cayenne which makes it sweet and spicy.

5 lbs. blue plums cooked and put through collander
 
4 lbs. apples chopped
 
3 large onions chopped
 
1 tbs. allspice
 
1 tbs. cloves
 
1 tbs. ginger
 
Salt to taste
 
4 lbs. brown sugar
 
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
 
3 cups vinegar, malt or cider

Directions

Combine plum puree and remaining ingredients.
Cook uncovered stirring constantly until thickened.
Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
