Directions

Place the oven rack in the lowest position and preheat the oven to 500° F.
Sprinkle a large baking sheet with the cornmeal, center half the dough on top, and pat into an 11-inch round.
Leaving a 1-inch border, sprinkle with half of the cheese.
Spread the spinach over the cheese, scatter with the walnuts, if using, and the apple, then top with the ham.
Sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
Pat the remaining dough into a 12-inch round on a sheet of wax paper.
Dip a pastry brush in water and brush a 1-inch border all around the dough.
Invert on top of the pizza, peel off the wax paper, then crimp the top and bottom crusts together, forming a decorative edge.
Bake the pizza, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until crisp and lightly browned.
