Ingredients

 Pinto beans package1 , dried
 Water5 Cup (16 tbs)
 1 medium-size onion,quartered
 Garlic1 Clove (5gm), minced
 Chili powder1 Teaspoon
 Salt2 Teaspoon
 1/2 pound pork hocks or salt pork, cut into cubes

Directions

1. Soak pinto beans overnight in water to cover; drain.
2. Combine beans, water, onion, garlic, chili powder, salt and pork hocks or salt pork in large kettle.
3. Bring to boiling; lower the heat; simmer over low heat 2 1/2 hours, or until beans are very soft. Remove pork hocks or salt pork before serving.
