Pine Needles Garnish For Tempura Recipe
Ingredients
| Uncooked very thin, round noodles such as somen | ||
| Tempura batter (with Tempura recipes) | ||
| Oil for deep frying | ||
Directions
Take a little bunch of the noodles (about 1/4 inch in diameter), and break to make needles about 3 inches long.
Holding the bunch firmly together, dip about 1/4-inch of the end into the batter, then hold this end in the hot oil (about 350°) while you count 5 seconds (this will fuse the noodles together at the end).
Then simply let go so the needles drop into the oil.
They will spread immediately and will begin to brown rather quickly.
Remove them as soon as they are lightly browned, in about a minute.
