 Red onions3
 1 cup plus 1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
 Salt1 Dash
 Peppercorns20 To taste
 Bay leaves2
 4 whole mackerels
 Dill1 Bunch (100gm), chopped

Directions

Peel onions; slice into rings.
Boil vinegar, salt, peppercorns, and bay leaves in pot; set aside to cool.
Wash, clean, fillet, and halve mackerels; cut each piece in half again.
Dry thoroughly.
Put into glass pot; cover with onion rings.
Spread marinade on top; let stand at least 24 hours.
