Almond Petit Fours Recipe
Finding a nice Petits Fours recipe is like hitting a jackpot, congratulations you have just hit one. This Petits Fours when served as a Dessert will bring happiness in your dining room. I cant believe you just have not tried my Petits Fours recipe, yet.
Ingredients
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups sifted cake flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup (6) egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
Directions
Cream butter and shortening thoroughly.
Gradually add 1 cup sugar, and cream together until light and fluffy.
Add extracts.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition.
Beat egg whites until foamy; gradually add remaining 1/4 CUP sugar and beat until mixture forms soft peaks.
Fold into batter.
Bake in a paperlined 13x9x2 inch pan in moderate oven (350°) about 40 minutes or till done.
Cool cake 5 minutes before removing from pan.
When thoroughly cool, cut in 1 1/2 inch squares or in diamonds.
Or cut in rounds with tiny biscuit cutter.
Line cakes up on rack with cooky sheet below.
Spoon Petits Fours Icing over cakes, coating evenly.(Keep icing over hot water.)
For pretty glaze, give cake two coats icing.
If icing gets too thick, add few drops hot water.
With pastry tube, pipe frosting rose on each cake or trim with candy decoration.
