 16 thin slices ice-box rye bread
 Butter2 Tablespoon, creamed
 2 firm tomatoes
 Salt To Taste
 Mayonnaise1/4 Cup (16 tbs)
 Chives2 Tablespoon, finley chopped
 16 half-inch cubes of sharp yellow cheese

Directions

Toast bread and spread with butter.
Cut tomatoes into thin slices and place a slice on each piece of toast.
Season with salt.
Spread a portion of mayonnaise combined with the chives on the tomato, leaving a rim of tomato showing on edge.
Garnish center with a cube of cheese.
