Peppery Schnitzel Recipe

Ingredients

 
1 1 1/2-lb. thin veal steak
 
1/2 c. chopped onion
 
1 clove of garlic, minced
 
Vegetable shortening
 
1/4 c. flour
 
1 1/2 tsp. salt
 
1/4 tsp. pepper
 
1 c. sour cream
 
1/3c. beef consomme
 
1 tbsp. paprika
 
3 drops of hot sauce
 
1 2 1/2-oz. can sliced mushrooms
 
1 8 1/2-oz. can peas
 
1/3c. chopped green pepper

Directions

"Pound veal to 1/8-inch thickness.
Saute onion and garlic in small amount of shortening in skillet until tender; remove from skillet.
Mix flour with salt and pepper.
Dip veal into seasoned flour; brown on both sides in remaining shortening in skillet.
Add onion mixture; simmer, covered, for 25 minutes or until veal is tender.
Combine sour cream, consomme, paprika and hot sauce; blend well.
Pour over veal mixture.
Drain mushrooms and peas; add with green pepper to veal mixture.
Simmer, covered, just until heated through.
Serve with buttered noodles; garnish with parsley.
