Penuche With Karo Syrup Recipe
Ingredients
| Brown sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| White sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Milk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 tablespoon white Karo syrup | ||
| Butter | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| Pecans | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), broken | |
| Few drops of vanilla | ||
| Pecan halves | ||
Directions
Put brown sugar, white sugar, milk, syrup, butter and salt in deep heavy pan, and stir before cooking.
Cook over medium heat, and stir occasionally.
When it forms a soft ball (238°), remove pan from stove, and place in cold water for a few moments.
Beat vigorously until it begins to thicken.
Then add pecans and vanilla.
Using 2 greased teaspoons, push candy off 1 spoon with the other spoon onto aluminum foil.
Place a pecan half on top of each patty, if desired.
Candy may be poured into a large pie plate.
Cool slightly before cutting into squares.
Do not make on a rainy day.
