Peking Apple Fritters Recipe
Ingredients
| 4 firm apples | ||
| Egg | 1 | |
| Egg white | 1 | |
| Flour | 30 Milliliter | |
| Cornstarch | 30 Milliliter | |
| Oil for deep frying | ||
| Oil | 50 Milliliter | |
| Sugar | 175 Gram | |
| White sesame seeds | 20 Milliliter | |
Directions
1 Peel, core and cut each apple into quarters.
Beat the egg and egg white until well blended and mix in the flour and cornflour (cornstarch).
2 Heat the oil for deep frying to 190°C, 375°E Dip the apple wedges in the egg batter and fry them in the oil until golden-brown.
Remove and drain.
3 Place the oil and sugar in a saucepan.
Heat gently, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves.
Increase the heat and cook until the sugar begins to caramelize.
Place the fritters on a serving dish and pour over the caramel.
Sprinkle with the sesame seeds and serve immediately.
