Pears A La Compote Recipe
Ingredients
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/3 cup lime or lemon juice | ||
| Salt | 1 Dash | |
| Pears | 4 | |
| 2 cups seeded Tokay or Emperor grapes | ||
| Dash aromatic bitters | ||
Directions
Combine first 4 ingredients; heat to boiling.
Meanwhile, halve pears lengthwise, leaving stem intact, and core (don't pare); add to syrup.
Cover; cook 20 minutes or till tender.
Arrange grapes and pears in dish.
Add bitters to syrup to taste.
Pour syrup over fruits; chill.
