Pear Squares Recipe

Ingredients
2 to 3 fresh pears
Pie pastry (using 3 cups flour)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon butter
1 stick cinnamon, broken

Directions
Wash, peel and core pears.
Save peelings in saucepan.
Make pastry using 3 cups of flour.
Chill, then roll out into rectangle.
Cut into strips, 4 x 8 inches.
Slice pears and place on half of each pastry strip.
Sprinkle pears with sugar, dot with butter.
Fold pastry over and seal edges with tines of fork.
Cut slits or pear shape on top of pastry.
Bake on bak- ing sheet in hot oven (425 ° F.) for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve warm with Cinnamon Sauce.
Cinnamon Sauce: Boil pear peelings with 1 cup water for 5 minutes.
Strain and discard peelings.
