Pear-Nut Pie Recipe
Ingredients
4 c. diced fresh pears
1/2 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp. instant tapioca
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. (packed) brown sugar
4 tbsp. butter
1 c. chopped pecans
1 unbaked 9-in. pastry shell
1/2 pt. heavy cream
Directions
Mix diced pears with sugar, salt, tapioca and lemon juice; let stand for 10 minutes.
Mix flour, brown sugar, butter and nuts until crumbly.
Sprinkle one- half of crumb mixture into bottom of pastry-lined pan.
Spoon in pears; top with remaining crumb mix- ture.
Bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes or until pears are tender when pierced with fork.
Serve with sweetened whipped cream, if desired.
