Pear And Apple Compote Recipe
The pear and apple compote is a wondeful fruit compote prepared with pears, apples and spiced with cloves. Sweet, with the freshness of cloves, the pear and apple compote is served with a sugar and currant jelly syrup, chilled and delicious!
Ingredients
2 cups water
2/3 cup sugar
6 pears, pared, cored, quartered
2 apples, pared, cored, quartered
8 whole cloves
1/2 cup currant or gooseberry jelly
Directions
Bring water with sugar to boiling in a large saucepan.
Boil 5 minutes.
Add fruits and cloves.
Simmer until fruits are tender, about 7 to 10 minutes.
Remove fruits and place in a serving bowl.
Discard cloves.
Boil syrup until only 1 cup remains.
Blend syrup into jelly.
Return to saucepan.
Bring just to boiling.
Pour over fruits.
Let stand 1 hour before serving, or chill.
