Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 cup peeled chopped ripe pear
1 cup low-fat buttermilk
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons stick margarine, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg

1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Combine first 6 ingredients in a large bowl; stir well. Stir in pear; make a well in center of mixture. Combine buttermilk and next 5 ingredients in a bowl; stir well with a whisk. Add to flour mixture, stirring just until moist. Spoon batter into an 8- x 4-inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray.
3. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 5 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan 10 minutes on a wire rack, and remove from pan. Let cool completely on wire rack.
