Ingredients

 
4 oz. granulated sugar
 
1/2 pint water
 
4 ripe peaches, skinned and halved
 
5 tablespoons brandy

Directions

Dissolve the sugar with the water in a pan without boiling.
Remove the stones from the peaches and add the peach halves to the pan.
Simmer very gently until tender, then place the drained peaches in a flameproof dish.
Boil the remaining syrup in the pan until reduced by two thirds.
Add brandy to the syrup and pour over the peaches.
