 100g/4 oz dried peaches, soaked overnight
 100g/4 oz glace cherries
 Grated rind and juice of 2 small oranges
 50 g/2 oz butter
 225g/8 oz self-raising flour
 75g/3 oz soft brown sugar
 100g/4oz raisins
 Eggs2
 Milk2 Tablespoon

Directions

Drain the peaches and chop with the cherries, using the double-bladed chopping knife.
Simmer the chopped fruit in the orange juice for 5 minutes.
Using the double-bladed chopping knife, mix the butter into the flour.
Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
Place in a greased l-kg/2-lb loaf tin.
Bake in a moderate oven (180C, 350F, gas 4) for 1-1 1/4 hours.
Slice and spread with butter.
