Directions

Dice 2 of the onions.
Peel the third onion, but leave it whole.
Stick cloves into the whole onion.
Put the diced onions, whole onion, peas, and water into a pot.
Cook them for 20 minutes; add the ham.
Add the marjoram and thyme and let it cook for at least 1 1/2 hours.
Remove the cloved onion and the ham.
Cut the ham into thick slices.
Season the soup with salt to taste.
When ready to serve, place a slice of ham on top of each serving of soup; garnish with parsley.
