1 lb. chicken livers
 
1 1/2 tsp. salt
 
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
 
1 c. soft butter, no substitute
 
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
 
2 tsp. dry mustard
 
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
 
4 tbsp. onion, grated
 
2 tbsp. cognac or sherry

Directions

Bring to boil chicken livers barely covered in water; simmer 15 to 20 minutes in covered pan.
Drain and put through finest blade of meat grinder or blender; add remaining ingredients.
Blend well.
This will keep 2 to 3 weeks in refrigerator.
Pack in covered crock or dish.
Two grated hard-boiled eggs may be added to stretch recipe for larger crowd.
