Pasta With Turnip Tops Recipe

Ingredients
Turnip tops or broccoli - 1 lb
Pasta shells - 1 lb
Garlic - 4 cloves
Small red chili pepper - 1
Extra virgin olive oil
Salt
Freshly ground pepper
Directions
GETTING READY
1 In a large saucepan, bring salted water to a boil for the pasta.
2 Trim the larger stems and ribs from the turnip tops and discard, together with any wilted leaves.
3 Wash well and drain.
4 Cut into small pieces.
MAKING
5 Put the pasta into the fast boiling water.
6 Cook for 8 minutes.
7 Add in your chosen green vegetable, peeled whole garlic cloves, and whole chili pepper.
8 Cook until the green vegetable is only just tender and still a little crisp.
9 Drain the contents of the saucepan, reserving a little of the cooking liquid.
10 Remove and discard the garlic and chili pepper.
SERVING
11 Transfer the pasta to a large, heated serving dish.
12 Sprinkle with a little of the reserved liquid, olive oil, and freshly ground pepper.
13 Serve at once.
