Pasta Flora Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 jigger brandy
3 egg yolks, beaten
3 1/2-4 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
1 pound jar cherry preserves
1 egg white, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Directions
Cream butter and sugar together.
Add egg yolks and vanilla or almond extract and mix well.
Stir in baking powder, mixed with the milk, and the brandy.
Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough.
Roll out two thirds of the dough thinly on a floured board and line a buttered, shallow, 10 X 14 inch pan, or pat dough thinly into pan.
Cover dough with cherry preserves.
Roll out remaining dough thinly and cut into long strips.
Cover preserves with a lattice topping of the strips.
Brush with egg white and bake in a moderate 350 to 375 degree oven for 45 minutes.
Cut into squares and remove from pan while warm.
