 2 pounds chicken parts
 Shortening2 Tablespoon
 Chicken broth1 Can (10oz), condensed
 Mushroom1 Can (10oz), drained
 '3 cup Burgundy or other dry red wine
 White onions10 Small
 Bay Leaf1
 1 large clove garlic, minced
 Thyme1/4 Teaspoon, crushed
 Water1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Flour1/4 Cup (16 tbs)

Directions

In skillet, brown chicken in shortening; pour off fat.
Add broth, mushrooms, wine, onions, bay leaf, garlic, and thyme.
Cover; cook over low heat 45 minutes or until chicken and onions are tender.
Stir occasionally.
Remove bay leaf.
Gradually blend water into flour until smooth; slowly stir into sauce.
Cook, stirring until thickened.
