| 4 cloves garlic, minced or crushed, or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder | ||

Directions
Heat oven to 400°F. Grease baking sheets with shortening. Place sheets of foil on countertop for cooling garlic twists.
Combine flour, baking powder, salt and Italian seasoning in large bowl. Reserve 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese. Add remaining cheese. Cut in 1/3 cup shortening with pastry blender (or two knives) until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Beat egg yolks, garlic and water lightly. Sprinkle over flour mixture. Toss lightly with fork until dough forms ball. Flour lightly.
Roll dough out on floured surface or between two sheets of waxed paper to form 13 x 9-inch rectangle. Trim edges to straighten.
Cut in half widthwise. Cut strips 1/4 inch wide (they will be 6-1/2 inches long). Twist two strips together, overlapping each strip over the other. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Repeat until all strips are twists. Brush with egg white. Sprinkle with reserved Parmesan cheese.
Bake at 400ºF. for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Do not overbake. Cool one minute. Remove to foil to cool completely. Sprinkle with paprika.
