Pan Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

 
1 13 3/4-ounce package hot roll mix
 
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
 
1/2 pound ground beef
 
1/4 cup chopped onion
 
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
 
1 clove garlic, minced
 
1 16-ounce can tomatoes, cut up
 
1/3 cup tomato paste (half of a 6-ounce can)
 
1 4-ounce can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
 
1 teaspoon sugar
 
1 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
 
1 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
 
1/2 teaspoon fennel seed (optional)
 
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 ounces)

Directions

In large bowl dissolve yeast from roll mix in 1 cup warm water.
Stir in flour mixture from mix and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese.
Cover and let rest 10 minutes.
With greased fingers pat dough out onto bottom and halfway up sides of a greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch baking pan.
Bake at 375° till deep golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, in medium skillet cook ground beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic till meat is brown and onion is tender.
Drain off excess fat.
Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, mushrooms, sugar, basil, oregano, fennel, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
Spread meat mixture over the hot, baked crust.
Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and the remaining Parmesan cheese.
Bake at 375° till bubbly, 20 to 25 minutes.
Let stand 5 minutes before cutting.
