Pan Fried Fish Recipe
Ingredients
| 3 10- to 12-ounce fresh or frozen pan-dressed trout or other fish | ||
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
| Water | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Saltine crackers | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs), crushed | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1 Dash | |
| Shortening or cooking oil for frying | ||
Directions
Thaw fish, if frozen.
Rinse and pat dry.
In a shallow dish beat egg; stir in water.
Dip fish in egg mixture to coat on both sides.
Combine bread crumbs or crushed crackers or cornmeal with the salt and pepper.
Roll fish in crumb mixture, coating evenly.
In large skillet heat 1/4 inch shortening or cooking oil.
Add fish in single layer to hot oil.
Fry fish on one side till brown, 4 to 5 minutes.
Turn and fry fish 4 to 5 minutes more.
Fish is done when both sides are brown and crisp, and when it flakes easily when tested with a fork.
Drain fish on paper toweling.
