How to make Pacific Pear Whip

Combine orange gelatin and water in a small saucepan; heat, stirring constantly, until gelatin dissolves.
Pour into a medium-size metal bowl.
Stir in ice cubes and ginger ale until ice cubes dissolve.
Place a pear half in each of 6 stemmed glasses or sherbet dishes.
Pour 1/2 cup of gelatin mixture into each glass (Don t worry if mixture is still foamy.) .
Place bowl with remaining gelatin over ice and water and beat with electric mixer at high speed 2 minutes, or until gelatin triples in volume and holds the markings of the beater.
Spoon whipped gelatin over clear gelatin, swirling the last spoonful to make a pretty peak.
Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
