Pa Dutch Potato Filling Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 box mashed potatoes-good instant potatoes are just as good | ||
| Onion | 1 Large, chopped | |
| 1 1/2 full bunch of celery, chopped | ||
| 3 raw eggs | ||
| 1 large bag croutons, white or corn bread | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | To Taste | |
Directions
In a Large mixing bowl, make mashed potatoes according to package directions (use real butter in the mashed potato mix).
Using real butter, Saute the chopped onion and celery in a large pan until starting to get browned.
Do not over cook.
Add the sauteed onion, celery, raw eggs, croutons, salt and pepper into the mashed potatoes and mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
Put all in a large crock pot or oven roaster and spread some real butter on top.
If using the crock pot, set on low until hot then reduce to warm.
If baking in the oven, bake at 300 until top starts browning and forming slight crust.
This recipe is for a large amount of potatoes and the recipe can be adjusted down for smaller amounts.
