Oysters Johnny Reb Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 qt. select oysters | ||
| 3/4 qt. top milk | ||
| Butter stick | 3/4 | |
| Finely minced parsley | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Shallots | 2 Tablespoon, finely chopped | |
| Lemon juice | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper red | 1 To taste | |
| Cracker | 1 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Butter shallow casserole.
Put layer of oysters in bottom of dish.
Sprinkle parsley, shallots, salt, pepper, and a little lemon juice.
Sprinkle cracker crumbs, then another layer of oysters, parsley, shallots, and crumbs.
Just before baking, pour milk over contents of casserole, letting milk mix with oysters.
Dot with thin slices of butter.
Bake 1/2 hour in a slow oven.
