Oven-Barbecued Turkey Drumsticks Recipe
Ingredients
2 tbsp vegetable oil 25 mL
1 small onion, chopped
2 tbsp packed brown sugar 25 mL
3/4 cup ketchup 175 mL
1/4 cup lemon juice 50 mL
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 15 mL
1 tbsp Dijon mustard 15 mL
1 tsp chili powder 5 mL
Dash hot pepper sauce
6 small turkey drumsticks (3 lb/1.5 kg)
Directions
In small heavy saucepan, heat oil over medium heat; cook onion, stirring, for 3 minutes or until softened but not browned.
Reduce heat to low; stir in sugar and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat; stir in ketchup, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, chili powder and hot pepper sauce.
Arrange drumsticks in single layer in 13- X 9-inch (3 L) non aluminum baking dish; pour sauce evenly over top.
Cover and bake in 350°F (180°C) oven, basting occasionally, for 1 hour.
Skim off any fat from sauce.
Uncover and bake for 45 minutes longer or until tender and juices run clear when turkey is pierced with knife.
