Ingredients

 Ground pork1 Pound
 2 to 3 slices stale, homemade-type bread with the crusts removed, soaked in a little milk
 1 egg, lightly beaten
 Grated nutmeg
 Ground cumin1 1/2 Teaspoon
 Ground ginger3/4 Teaspoon
 Onion1 , finely chopped
 1 tbsp. finely chopped leek green
 2 to 3 tsp. ketjap benteng manis
 Butter
 2 to 3 tbsp. grated Gouda or Cheddar cheese
 Dry bread crumbs3 Tablespoon
 Parsley2 Tablespoon, chopped
 Salt To Taste
 Pepper To Taste

Directions

Combine the pork in a bowl with the bread, egg, salt, pepper, nutmeg, cumin, ginger, onion, leek and ketjap benteng manis, and mix it thoroughly with two forks.
Butter a 1-quart [1-liter] enameled cast-iron casserole.
Fill it with the spiced ground meat and press the meat down lightly with a fork.
Sprinkle the surface with the mixed cheese, bread crumbs and parsley.
Spread slivers of butter on the surface and bake, uncovered, in a preheated 375° F. [190° C] oven for the first 10 minutes.
Lower the temperature to 325° F. [160° C] and bake for 30 minutes longer, or until the meat loaf is done and nicely browned on top.
