Directions

Peel the colored part of the orange rind very thinly, with a potato peeler.
Cut the peel into strips the length of a matchstick and half the width.
Remove all the white pith and cut each orange in half through the center, horizontally.
Reassemble the oranges with toothpicks.
To prepare the syrup, put the sugar, water, and julienne strips of orange peel in a 2-quart glass bowl.
Cook for 5 minutes on the highest setting.
Add the Grand Marnier.
Place the oranges in the hot syrup and allow to cool.
Chill 4 hours before serving.
