| Egg | 1 , Well beaten | |
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Orange juice | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 2 Tablespoon, melted | |
Directions
Sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and sugar together. Add nuts, raisins, and orange rind. Combine egg, milk, and orange juice. Add to flour mixture with shortening; mix only until flour is dampened and fruit and nuts are well distributed. Spoon batter into greased pan. Bake for 1 hour, or until it tests done. (Bake small loaves about 45 minutes.) Let cool in pan 10 minutes; turn out and let stand until cold. Wrap in waxed paper or aluminum foil; let stand overnight before slicing.
