Orange Beets Recipe
This Orange Beets are for the sweet- toothed ! I tried the Orange Beets with sweetbread loaves at lunchtime and tey tasted simply Wow! Try out and tell me what you feel about the dish!
Ingredients
1 cup peeled and sliced cooked beets
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 teaspoons margarine
Dash salt
1 teaspoon firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon orange marmalade
1/4 cup orange juice (no sugar added)
Directions
In 1-quart saucepan (not aluminum or cast-iron) combine beets, margarine, and sugar; cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until margarine and sugar are melted.
In 1-cup measure or small bowl combine juices, cornstarch, and salt, stirring to dissolve cornstarch; pour over beet mixture and, stirring constantly, bring to a boil.
Continue cooking and stirring until mixture thickens.
Reduce heat, add marmalade, and stir until combined.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly; cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Reheat before serving.
