Orange Spiced Pork Chops Recipe
Ingredients
| 4 pork loin chops, about 1/2 inch thick | ||
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Onion | 1 Small, thinly sliced | |
| Grated peel of 1 large orange | ||
| Juice of 1 large orange | ||
| 1/4 cup medium red wine | ||
| Packed brown sugar | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Ground cloves | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), finely chopped | |
| Orange | 1 Small, thinly sliced | |
| Cornstarch | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Cold water | 1 Tablespoon | |
Directions
1. Arrange pork chops with narrow ends toward center in baking dish, 8x8x2 inches. Sprinkle pork with salt; arrange onion slices on pork. Mix orange peel, orange juice, wine, brown sugar, cloves and garlic; pour over pork. Cover tightly and microwave on medium (50%) 5 minutes; rotate baking dish 1/4 turn. Microwave 5 minutes longer. Arrange orange slices on pork; rotate baking dish 1/2 turn. Cover and microwave, rotating baking dish 1/4 turn every 5 minutes, until pork is done (170° on meat thermometer), 12 to 15 minutes.
2. Remove pork chops to serving platter. Cover with aluminum foil and keep warm. Pour 1 cup of juices from baking dish into 2-cup measure. Mix cornstarch and water; stir into juice. Cover loosely and microwave on high (100%) until thickened and boiling, 1 to 2 minutes. Serve on a mixture of white and wild rice if desired. Spoon sauce over pork chops.
