Orange Pears Recipe
Ingredients
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Water | 2 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 4 Bartlett pears | ||
| Orange juice | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Orange rind | 2 Tablespoon, grated | |
| Cornstarch | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Cold water | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Orange liqueur | 2 Tablespoon | |
Directions
Place sugar, 2 1/2 cups (625 ml) water and vanilla in saucepan.
Bring to boil.
Meanwhile, carefully core pears without removing stem.
Peel and place pears in syrup mixture in saucepan.
Cook 4 to 5 minutes over low heat.
Remove saucepan from heat and let pears cool in syrup.
Remove pears and set on serving platter; set aside.
Remove 1 cup (250 ml) of syrup and transfer to clean saucepan.
Bring to boil.
Add orange juice and rind; bring to boil again and continue cooking 3 minutes over high heat.
Mix cornstarch with 2 tbsp (30 ml) water; stir into orange syrup and cook 1 minute.
Mix in liqueur and pour sauce over pears.
Cool before serving.
