Orange Muffins Recipe
Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
4 eggs
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 pound dates, finely chopped
3/4 cup pecans, chopped
1 tablespoon orange rind, grated
Directions
Cream shortening, and add brown sugar; blend thoroughly.
Add eggs, 1 at a time.
Sift flour and salt together.
Add soda to buttermilk.
Add flour and buttermilk alternately to the creamed mixture.
Then add the dates, pecans and orange rind.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350°.
Remove from oven, and while hot, dip in the orange juice mixture.
Drain, and place on wax paper
