Orange Fig Nut Bread Recipe

| Orange juice | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
| Orange rind | 1 Tablespoon, lightly packed | |
| Vanilla | 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
| All purpose flour | 2 Cup (32 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1⁄2 Teaspoon | |
| Baking powder | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Soda | 1⁄4 Teaspoon | |
| Nuts | 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped |

Directions
Add the egg and beat thoroughly.
Sift the flour, measure, and resift 3 times with the sugar, salt, baking powder and soda.
Add the sifted dry ingredients all at once to the liquid and beat well.
Fold in the nuts.
Turn into a well-greased loaf pan, 8" x 4" x 2 1/2", pushing well into the corners.
Bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until bread tests done.
Cool before slicing.
Makes 1 loaf.
