Orange Cake Recipe

Ingredients

 
1 cup sugar
 
1 cup flour
 
5 eggs, separated
 
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
 
1/2 pound butter, melted
 
1 orange, grated rind and juice of
 
Syrup

Directions

Mix sugar and egg yolks well.
Stir in melted butter, rind and juice of the orange, flour, and baking powder.
Carefully fold in egg whites, stiffly beaten.
Pour into a buttered 8x10 inch or 9x9 inch baking pan.
Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 minutes, lower oven temperature to 350 degrees, and bake for 30 minutes longer or until cake tests done.
Cool, then pour hot syrup over the cake, cut into square or diamond shaped serving pieces, and serve.
