Onions Gratines Recipe

Ingredients
6 to 8 medium-sized onions
2 tbsp (30 mL) butter
2 tbsp (30 mL) vegetable oil
Salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste
3 tbsp (50 mL) whipping cream
4 tbsp (60 mL) Swiss cheese, grated
1 tbsp (15 mL) butter
Directions
Peel the onions and chop them fine.
Place the 2 tablespoons (30 mL) butter in a 4-cup (1 L) microwave-safe dish.
Add the oil and microwave 3 minutes at HIGH.
Add the onions, stir until well mixed with the hot fat.
Cover and microwave 3 minutes at HIGH.
Stir well.
Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
Stir.
Pour the whole into a Pyrex or Corning pie plate.
Top with the grated cheese mixed with the cream and dot with the last tablespoon of butter.
Preheat the convection section of your microwave oven to 400° F (200 °C).
Place onion dish on a rack and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the top cheese is a golden color.
